About Course

This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the theories, concepts, and practical applications of entrepreneurship in both profit and non-profit contexts. It equips learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify, evaluate, and exploit business opportunities, while fostering an entrepreneurial mindset essential for innovation and sustainable economic development. The course begins with foundational concepts, exploring the definitions, typologies, and theoretical frameworks that shape entrepreneurship across cultures and economies. Students will examine the distinctions between entrepreneurship and related concepts such as intrapreneurship, innovation, and business development, and assess the role of entrepreneurship in economic growth and development.

Through a systematic exploration of entrepreneurial characteristics, motivations, and typologies, the course emphasizes the personal, social, and economic dimensions of entrepreneurship. Students will study the legal forms of business ownership, ranging from sole proprietorships and partnerships to cooperatives and state enterprises, enabling them to understand the regulatory and structural implications of each. The course further introduces the entrepreneurship process from opportunity recognition to feasibility analysis and business planning highlighting critical success factors and common pitfalls.

A key component of the course focuses on entrepreneurial finance, where students learn about internal and external funding sources, capital market dynamics, and listing requirements of the Douala Stock Exchange. The course also addresses ethical and social dimensions of entrepreneurship, stressing the importance of business ethics and corporate social responsibility in building sustainable enterprises. In its final stages, the course guides students through feasibility studies and the preparation of a detailed business plan, incorporating financial projections and strategic considerations necessary for venture success.
